If you’re looking for a 60’s or 70’s style jacket to pair with your high waisted jeans, the pea coat was the quintessential outerwear of the time. Military jackets/trenchcoats were also very popular, with their large buttons, high necklines, and belts. Capes and shawls, also called ponchos, were very trendy, and often had interesting embellishments such as tassles or fringe. The members only jacket also became popular during this time, and has never gone out of (ironic) style.
Note: Jackets made from animal skins were also very popular in the 60s and 70s, but please be kind to animals and go faux. That vintage fur coat may have come from an animal that “died before you were born”, but wearing any animal skins tells the world that you think it’s fashionable and can create demand for new products.
